Tucked into 50 acres of Deep East Texas pine and oak forest alongside its sister cabins, Hog Heaven and the Chicken Coop, the Goat Shack is the one guests come back for. The themed décor, the cozy layout, the sounds of nature right outside the door, it all adds up to something you can't find at a chain hotel or a generic Airbnb rental.

The Cabin

Inside, the Goat Shack is all comfort. The living area is designed for real relaxation, sink into the seating, flip on the TV, or just open the door to the deck and let the breeze do the decorating. The themed décor gives the space a sense of fun without sacrificing anything in the way of livability.

Two bedrooms sleep up to 6 guests comfortably. The master has a queen bed with quality linens and storage. The second bedroom features a queen bunk bed, flexible for families with kids, friend groups, or anyone who doesn't mind a great view from the top. Both rooms are well-appointed and cool with central air and heat meaning every season is the right season for a visit.

The kitchen is fully equipped. Every pot, pan, knife, and coffee maker you'd need to cook real meals is here. A dishwasher, full-size refrigerator, stove and oven, microwave, toaster, and blender round it out. Prefer to grill outside? BBQ utensils are included. An in-unit washer and dryer means you can pack light for longer stays.

Self check-in via keypad means you arrive on your schedule, not ours. High-speed Wi-Fi keeps everyone connected when they want to be, and the pond keeps everyone unplugged when it's time for that too.

The Pond and Property

The Goat Shack's back deck sits right on the bank of one of the two large, fully stocked ponds on the property. Bass, crappie, catfish, and perch, all catch-and-release, all within casting distance of your door. You don't need a boat. Just a rod and reel with a little patience.

The Goat Shack is less than 5 miles from Loop 287, Lufkin is right there when you want it, and completely out of sight when you don't.

Downtown Lufkin — under 10 minutes. Shops, restaurants, the Ellen Trout Zoo, and the Naranjo Museum of Natural History are all close.
Lake Sam Rayburn — 8 miles east on Hwy 103. Texas's largest in-state lake with boating, fishing, kayaking, and sandy beaches.
Davy Crockett National Forest — about 30 minutes north. Hiking, swimming at Ratcliff Lake, and miles of forest trails.
Nacogdoches — 30 minutes east. The Oldest Town in Texas, with historic downtown, SFA campus, and great dining.

Traveling With a Larger Group

The Goat Shack sleeps 6, but if your group is larger, check availability on the Vacation Farmhouse, also located on this property, sleeping up to 15 in 5 bedrooms with 5 full baths, a private pool, jacuzzi, sunroom, and full outdoor entertaining area.
